1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY.

The business idea is to start up a “PUBLIC DRINKING WATER DISPENSER” business.  This business will provide self-service public automatic water dispensers that will provide drinking water at cheap price to fill the tumbler or refill reusable bottle in public places like university campuses, bus and railway stations. The vending machines will sell the water in volume- based refill. This idea has risen due to environmental pollution concerns which has been caused by increase in disposable plastic bottle trashes in Dar es salam City and other major towns in Tanzania. Also higher price of bottled (in plastic bottles) drinking water makes one to think about finding a solution of that problem for the betterment of our society and environment.

1.1 BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

 The name proposed for this business is “FABULOUS PUBLIC DRINKING WATER DISPENSER” which will have (3) Station. The business station will be at UBUNGO BUS STATION, TAZARA RAILWAY STATION and at the University of Dar es salam campus (university cafeteria). Just as the word fabulous means, that is, extraordinary, the business is expecting to expand year to year by 45% increase through providing services of good quality, being price conscious as well as advertising through posters, local radio stations like Cloud FM, television and social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Each station will have one staff (supervisor/ serviceman) who will look after vending machine and give the assistance to those who need the help for that service (drinking water).

The drinking water industry consists of a number of firms taking advantage in Dar es salam region which is highly populated and surrounded by many opportunities. Having many competitors in the industry will make this business to be stronger by providing quality service at affordable price for the intention of attracting more customers to be engaged in this service.

1.2 PHILOSOPHY, MISSION, VISION AND OBJECTIVE OF THE BUSINESS

1.2.1 Vision statement for the project: to be the best drinking water dispenser in five years to come with several stations at various major institutions (public spots,  universities) and with the ability to increase its capital and employ more workers.

1.2.2 Mission statement for the project: - Providing and promoting high quality services and ensuring sustainable safe water systems and environmental conservation using the quality inputs available.

1.2.3 Values and objectives of the business: the objective of the project is to generate profit and provide the best and high quality services (safe drinking water) that will satisfy Dar es salam people.

1.2.4 Business Philosophy: Centre of effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.

2.1 DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES OFFERED.

The business will be self-service public automatic water dispenser, which will provide drinking water by using vending machines. The machines will accept a Tsh. 200 coin for refiling a glass of 300ml. This is cheaper compared to prices of drinking water in disposable bottles. The vending machines will also sell the cold drinking water in volume-based refills. The main objective is to reduce the plastic bottle usage. The operation will be run by professional staff in cleaning and changing the water containers to the pump to ensure its hygiene.
